Our Commitment
Royal Coven is committed to ensuring that our website, royalcoven.com, is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe that every reader deserves equal access to our shop, policies, and content, regardless of how they experience the web.
We are actively working to meet the standards set by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, as referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and California's Unruh Civil Rights Act. This is an ongoing effort, not a one-time fix.
Conformance Status
What We Have Done
We have taken a number of steps to improve accessibility across our site, including:
- Adding descriptive alt text to product images so screen readers can convey what is shown
- Ensuring all pages include a skip-to-main-content link for keyboard users
- Providing visible keyboard focus indicators so users navigating by keyboard can see where they are on the page
- Using semantic HTML landmarks (
<main>,<header>,<nav>,<footer>) to help screen readers understand page structure - Labeling all links that open in a new tab so users are notified before following them
- Structuring headings in a logical, hierarchical order on all policy and informational pages
- Maintaining sufficient color contrast between text and backgrounds on our primary page layouts
- Ensuring our site can be navigated and used without a mouse using keyboard-only input
Known Limitations
We are aware that some areas of our site may present accessibility challenges. We are working to address them:
- Third-party content: Some functionality on our site is provided by third-party services (including Shopify's checkout, payment processors, and embedded apps). We do not fully control the accessibility of these components, but we encourage our providers to maintain high standards and report issues to us when you encounter them.
- Product images: We are continuously adding and updating alt text for all product photography. Some older or recently added listings may not yet have complete descriptions.
- PDF or downloadable content: Any downloadable files linked from our site may not yet be fully accessible. We will work to remediate these on request.
- Video or multimedia content: Any video content we post (such as product previews or social embeds) may not include captions. We are working to add captions to new video content going forward.
Alternatives and Assistance
If you experience difficulty accessing any part of our site, we want to help. You can contact us directly and we will do our best to provide the information or complete the transaction you need through an alternative method.
For example, if you are unable to complete a purchase due to an accessibility barrier, please reach out and we will assist you personally via email.

Accessibility is not a project with a finish line; it is an ongoing responsibility. We are a small, independent business and we take this seriously. Our approach includes:
- Regular self-audits using free tools including WAVE (WebAIM) and Accessibility Insights
- Reviewing Shopify theme updates for accessibility improvements
- Addressing reported issues promptly and in good faith
- Updating this statement as our site evolves
